Ready for a climbing adventure at the Gerlossteinwand via ferrata?
At the Hotel Neue Post, hiking and biking are popular summer activities, but there’s a whole world of adventure awaiting those who are eager for more. Climbing, for instance, is a thrilling choice for anyone seeking a blend of physical and mental challenge. Why climbing? It engages nearly every muscle group, enhancing strength, endurance, and flexibility. Additionally, climbing demands mental fortitude – strategic thinking, sharp focus, and swift decision-making are as crucial as physical strength. These skills help you become mindful of what’s truly essential.
Another advantage of climbing is the opportunity it offers to explore magnificent natural landscapes from an entirely new angle. For example, the Zillertal Alps Nature Park offers climbers dramatic rock formations and steep mountain slopes. Every step upward brings a new perspective of the Zillertal Alps, turning climbs into an unforgettable visual and physical experience. The park features ten via ferratas, catering to everyone from families to the very athletic. Just 200 metres from the hotel, the Zimmereben family via ferrata is perfect for beginners. For those seeking a tougher challenge, the Gerlossteinwand via ferrata is a great option, though it’s not suitable for children or novices. Starting from the mountain station of the Gerlosstein cable car, a 45-minute walk leads you to this challenging via ferrata. Prepare to navigate a route with over 450 metres of steel cable, 300 handholds, 230 rope clamps, 150 drill anchors, and more. This journey will take you from the base to the summit, always secured by a continuous steel cable, and should take approximately one and a half hours to complete. The descent follows a well-marked hiking trail back to the Gerlosstein mountain station.
